A Norwich locksmith was invisible to the towns he drives to. Now AI search sends him there.
Mr Locksmith Lockout LLC is a licensed mobile locksmith in Norwich, Connecticut. The business had a dated website that barely mentioned the towns its van covers and buried the proof a stranger needs before letting a locksmith into their home. AI Search Rankings rebuilt the website around the questions customers actually ask, then measured the result. In the three months to October 4, 2026, Google Search Console recorded 1,233 generative AI impressions, up from 138, with 72 pages becoming visible for the very first time.
Licensed mobile locksmith
Norwich, Connecticut, covering 22 areas of Eastern Connecticut.
A good locksmith that customers could not find
A locksmith customer is usually standing outside something they cannot open. They are stressed, often on a phone with one bar of signal, and they will call whoever looks closest, fastest, and most trustworthy. Mr Locksmith Lockout was losing those calls before the phone ever rang, for three reasons.
The van travelled further than the website did
The business covers 22 areas across Eastern Connecticut, but the website talked almost entirely about its home town. Someone locked out one town over searched, found nothing local, and called a competitor instead.
Every town not named is a town the phone does not ring from. The actual jobs were invisible
People do not search for a locksmith. They search for a car key for their make of car, a house lockout, a rekey after a move, or a jammed ignition. All of that work sat behind one general page, so no single question had a clear answer.
A general page competes for nothing in particular. The proof was there but unusable
A state licence, insurance, an accreditation and a fast arrival promise are exactly what an anxious customer needs to see. They existed, but as images and footer text, which neither a worried customer nor an AI assistant can read and repeat as fact.
Trust you cannot read is trust you do not get credit for.The same gap now costs more than it used to
Customers increasingly ask an assistant rather than scroll a list of links. An assistant will only name a business it can confidently describe, which means it needs to find the service, the place, and the proof written down plainly. A website that reads fine to a human but says nothing specific gets left out of the answer entirely.
We made the business easy to find, easy to understand, and easy to trust
These are the services we delivered for this client. Each one solves a specific part of the problem above, and they are the same services we run for other local and trade businesses.
A website rebuilt to win the call
We replaced an ageing site with one built for a stressed customer on a phone. The licence, the arrival promise, the service area and a tap to call sit in the first screen, so the decision takes seconds instead of scrolling.
Website Design ServicesLocal coverage that matches the van
We mapped the real service area and gave every town the business actually drives to its own place on the website, so a search from the next town over finds something local rather than nothing.
Local SEO and AI SearchA clear answer for every job
We gave each service customers ask for its own straight answer, written the way people describe the problem rather than the way the trade describes the work.
Answer Engine OptimizationProof published as fact, not decoration
We turned the licence, the accreditation, the hours, the named lead technician and the arrival promise into information a search engine and an AI assistant can read and repeat, instead of a badge in a footer.
Schema and Entity SEOA clean technical foundation
Moving off an old platform is where most businesses quietly lose the visibility they already had. We handled the move so the new pages inherited the ground the old ones held.
Technical SEOMeasurement you can actually check
We track what AI search and Google do with the business month after month, and we report the metric as the platform defines it, with the window and the limits stated.
AI Visibility TrackingThe first conversation is free. Responds within 24 hours.
The business became visible across its whole service area
These figures come from the client's own Google Search Console account, for the three months to October 4, 2026, compared with the three months before. They count how often the business appeared in Google's AI answers.
Where the visibility came from
The homepage carried 54.0 percent of it. The other 46.0 percent came from pages answering a specific question, which is the part a general website never reaches.
- Pages that win the call
- 60.3%
- The towns the van covers
- 25.6%
- Individual jobs customers ask for
- 8.2%
- Car key and key fob work
- 3.9%
- Old pages being replaced
- 1.5%
- Photographs of real work
- 0.4%
Percentages are shares of the 1,233 appearances recorded in the measured window.
What changed for the business
- The strongest page after the homepage is a town the business never used to appear for at all.
- The pages that explain who the business is and how to reach it now draw real visibility, because they carry real detail.
- Specific jobs, the ones customers describe by make and model, each pull their own share instead of competing with one another.
- 78 pages gained ground in a single quarter.
The point is breadth. A business that appears for one search is findable. A business that appears across its whole service area and service list is the one an assistant can recommend whatever the customer asks.
Every number above has a date on it
A result without a window is not a result. This is the source, the report, and the exact period, so you can judge the figures rather than take them on trust.

Google ends its three month preset at the most recent date that has data, which is normally two to three days before a report is taken. The calendar ranges above are therefore approximate, and the preset is named rather than precise dates invented.
What this result proves, and what it does not
We would rather you trusted a smaller claim than doubted a bigger one. Here is exactly what the data supports.
What the report supports
- 1,233 appearances in Google AI answers in the three months to October 4, 2026.
- 138 in the three months before, a 793.5 percent increase.
- 72 pages appearing for the first time, and 78 gaining ground.
- Visibility spread across the service area, the individual jobs, and the trust pages, rather than sitting on one page.
What it does not prove
- Clicks, phone calls, booked jobs, quotes, or revenue. An appearance is not a customer, and we will not present it as one.
- A property-level total. The client supplied the pages view, so we publish the sum of those pages and label it as that rather than estimating a figure we were not given.
- Visibility inside ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Copilot. Google Search Console does not report those.
- That your business would see the same numbers. Market, competition and demand all differ, and the platforms are controlled by other companies.
We do not guarantee rankings or AI citations
Google, OpenAI and Microsoft control those systems, so nobody can honestly promise a placement in them. What we commit to is the work that makes a business easy to find, understand and trust, and reporting the outcome using the platform's own definitions with the window stated. We say this before you buy, not after.
If any of these describe your business, we should talk
This engagement was a locksmith, but the problem is the same for any business that travels to customers or sells several distinct services.
You drive to customers across a wide area, but online you mainly show up for the town you are based in.
You quote several different jobs, and they all share one services page that does not really explain any of them.
You hold a licence, insurance or an accreditation, and it appears as a logo rather than as something a customer can verify.
You rebuilt or moved your website at some point, and you have never checked what it cost you in search.
You have tried asking ChatGPT or Google for a business like yours, and a competitor came back instead of you.
You pay for marketing but cannot say what it changed, because nobody reports it in terms you can check.
Questions buyers ask about this result
Straight answers, using the same source and the same limits as the report above.
